It's been a very long time..

So a lot has happened since i started this blog for Sitka. It was just something fun and cool for me to do, but life got busy for us and I let it slide.

Her "dad", the one that HAD to have a pug, had always wanted a pug, left her behind with me when he told me over the phone (yes, after 12+ years of marriage) that he was leaving. That was 2017. It was the best thing that could've happened to me, honestly. He also left behind 3 other dogs -Jackson, Homer and Cooper. I have since met someone absolutely amazing and we've been together over 3 years.

On July 20, 2019, Sitka crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Her back legs weren't working very well anymore and she was unable to control her bladder or bowel movements. My bossy little diva just wasn't herself anymore, and she let me know she was ready.

My mom, my biggest cheerleader and Sitka's biggest fan (besides me!), passed away on June 9, 2021. I miss her every single day, but I know that Sitka was waiting for her Granny to give her kisses and take her spot in her lap.

I had debated on taking the blog down, but I've decided to keep it, so I can look back and remember the tiny little girl that made me fall in love with pugs, and all dogs. She was truly the best dog I could've asked for. Homer is older now, so I'm sure it won't be long until I have to make another tough decision. 😢

Wow!

Momma is a BAD momma! She hasn't had time to help me post on my blog for awhile, but she said let's do it today - so here I is!

Well, all kinds of pug stuff going on...

We've moved! We live in North Carolina now. Not sure what that means, or where it is, I just know that we have our very own back yard now. It's a lot of fun!!

Homer and I also have a new brother. His name is Jackson, and he's a pit bull we adopted from someone in South Carolina. He had a really bad start to life, but mommy says he'll have a great one, now. We're not really sure what to think of him. He's not pug size, and since he's a puppy, he plays kinda rough and stuff. He gets excited. Bully breeds have to have a lot of exercise, unlike us pugs. But we all sleep together at night and love each other.

Well, that's about it for news stuff. Daddy will be deploying again soon, which is why momma started this blog in the first place. So, hopefully school won't keep her too busy and she can post stuff for us. Homer has his own blog, too... but he hasn't posted yet!!

So, a friend of my mom's rescued some really cute puppies... and then they came down with Parvo. =( The rescue she pulled them for doesn't have any funds to help pay for this and she's left to foot the bill all by herself. PLEASE, PLEASE help!!!

Well, mommy stayed super busy this summer with her French class. But, she taught me a few words, too! I'm not a good typer, tho. So, have to wait...

There's some very sad news in the doggy world today. One of the Michael Vick dogs, Sweet Jasmine, better known as the cover doggy on Sports Illustrated, was hit by a car and killed yesterday. The poster pup for pit bulls. Mommy was really sad, too.

RIP Sweet Jasmine
Mommy, me and Homer are really glad you got a bunch of love after what you went through and that you got to be a D-O-G. Nuttin' better.

Wow! I can't believe how long it's been since I posted... sorry about that (mom says sorry, too, since she has to help me). Mom goes is still going to that school thing. I don't know why! It seems like a lot of work, and me? I'd rather sleep and eat! Oh... and poo.

My brother, Homer... he's gotten SO BIG! He's as tall as me!! And he's got really long legs, too. Mom said she might look into some agility training for him... but he's a scaredy cat!!!! He's afraid of thunder, fireworks, any loud noise. Not me!! I'm not afraid!! Mom says that we're just like kids (those small 2-legged things). You get one that's great (doesn't cry or whine a lot, not nurrodic?) and then you get one that's all of those things.

We've just been playing with our mommy and daddy, who gets to be home a whole lot more - and I love it!! It's not been too hot, so we get to go on more walks, too. Mom says she's going to get Homer a blog, too, so he can write stuff. But he's so stupid, what's he gonna write about?!?

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!! I'll make mom help me post again soon.

Well, guess what?

Daddy surprised mommy AND me last night... and brought me home a new little brother. I've been a little protective of mommy & daddy since he got here, but they make sure they're giving me loving, too... so I'm starting to do better.

I'm not sure what to think of him yet, but I have been babysitting him. I think he's awful adorable. Here's a picture daddy took of us last night...

A Day Late...

I know I'm late, but we had a busy day yesterday! We opened presents in the morning, and I got 2 new stuffed toys and a new brush... I shed a lot. Daddy is actually at home and Granny's here with us visiting... and even better, Uncle Andrew and Aunt Rebecca came over and had Christmas dinner with us. It was great! And I got some turkey... again!! A really great Christmas... even though I'm still waiting to bust that Santa character coming down the chimney.

I hope all my friends, including the 2-legged hyoomuns, had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or whatever you my celebrate.

Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day! I actually got to have some turkey, and it was quite yummy. =)

Mom saw this article and asked if she could post it on my blog. It's about a pug, and she thinks it's a great story and that everyone can learn from it. The link to the original article is included...

Thanksgiving from Popeye the Pug

Every cloud has a silver lining. It’s always darkest before the dawn. Popeye the Pug never heard these sayings — but he knew them instinctively.
At 16 years old, deaf and blind, Popeye wandered in pouring ran for three days and nights. He never gave up looking for his family.

Popeye was finally picked up by a good Samaritan and taken to the police station, where he was reunited with his family.
We can all learn from this little pug — that the only thing that matters in this life is home and love of family, and never, ever give up.

Blame mom, not me...

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a really long time... LONG time... but mom has been really busy. She HAS to help me type or else I'd be here all darn day trying to type one word!!

She's got this school thing she does, and works... but she ALWAYS makes time for MEMEME!! She always drives home between work and class to take me outside and feed me. She said she doesn't care - she loves me.

Daddy is home right now, so he'll be home for Turkey Day!! YAY!! Then he leaves... but he'll be home for Christmas!!! Another big YAY!! We're going to Aunt Becca and Uncle Andrew's house for Thanksgiving. Yes, WE... ALL of us, so it will be fun! Mom always gives me a little turkey, as long as it has nothing bad for doggies in it. Do people put chocolate on turkey?

Daddy comes home next week!

Yay! I can't wait to see Daddy! He's been gone for a really long time, it seems like. Mommy sends him pictures to his phone sometimes, but it just ain't the same. I need one of daddy's belly rubs!

Please help Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue (MAPR)!

So, mom got this email from MAPR this morning and wanted to post it here on my blog, since I'm a pug and all. Neither one of us like to see fellow puggies not getting the help they need. MAPR is a GREAT rescue organization, so if you can spare a little bit of money to help with vet costs, that'd be great. I know mom said I'd have to lay off the treats for a bit... I can do that if it will help these pugs.

Here's the link and some information:

http://www.fundable.com/groupactions/groupaction.2008-09-01.3541920509/groupaction_view

Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue has recently been hit very hard with surrenders and shelter pulls. We have over 65 dogs in foster care including several who are in very poor shape. Since August 15, MAPR has taken in the following special needs medical cases and we need your help! For those who have never participated in a Fundable fund drive before, if we don't raise our entire goal of $6,051 by 9/27, all pledges will be refunded and MAPR won't receieve anything. So, please help us meet our goal!

Kyle (see image) was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter in TN, where MAPR found him. He has almost no fur on his body and has a horrible skin infection with open wounds, an ear infection, eye problems, and a mouth full of rotten and infected teeth. He needs at least two surgeries- a compete dental overhaul with multiple extractions and sugery on at least one of his eyes. He will need many weeks of care but all of his current issues are correctable and with plenty of TLC, Kyle will be a new man again soon. Even with some generous discounts from our partner vet, we expect his vet bills to be at least $2,000 by the time he gets all the care he needs.

Read more on the Fundable website. If they don't get all the money they need, they get nothing.

My Granny left yesterday...

My Granny came up a few days before daddy left so her and Mom could go see something called the Lion King... ?? Don't know what that is, but Mom said it was pretty cool. Anywoof, Granny went home last night and I really, really miss her. She takes great care of me, lays with me on the sofa, sneaks me an extra treat when Mom isn't watching and makes me toys! Isn't that what humans are supposed to do for their grandpugs?

My daddy is gone, too. He's going to school, or something. I don't know why - he's pretty smart to me, but Mom says he had to go for work. So, I miss him, too! I've been hit with a double whammy and I don't know how much more my poor little pug heart can take. At least momma is here... but I'm so sad when she goes to work.

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day. I hung out with my momma and Granny. It was fun!

I'm kinda sad...

Well, Dad's out of town... and now Mommy is leaving me tomorrow! She's going to Hawaii to meet Daddy, even though he's working. And she's taking Granny with her! My other Granny is coming up here to stay with me while they're gone... but I wanna go. How come I can't go?

I know Mommy & Daddy will miss me just as much as I miss them, but I really miss them when they're gone. At least I'll be at my house this time, so that helps a little bit.

I hope they have fun...

This is how sad I am:

Hi Everyone!

I haven't written in awhile... I've just been a lazy pug. But we all deserve it sometimes, right?

I just added a new banner to the site, if you could please click on it and check out the page, I'd greatly appreciate it. It's about a dog named Gage, a pit bull, that was shot by a neighbor. I never met him... mom didn't either... but his story makes me and mom very, very sad.

They have a petition, so at the very least, if you could sign it... Gage deserves justice. NO DOG should ever have to die that way, but mommy says it happens all the time. We just don't hear about it that much.

Thanks so much,
Sitka
